Lakeside School is Seeking Assistant Teacher for Early Childhood Sprouts Program
Starting in April 2021
We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work alongside our Lead Sprouts Teachers, caring for a multi-age nursery group. The positions will start in April. The position will work 29 hours a week at a payrate of $13.25 per hour. There is an opportunity to expand this position to other responsibilities at the school. The Assistant Teachers provide loving care while encouraging creative play, age appropriate movement, language development, and cooperative skills with other children in both indoor and outdoor settings. The Assistant also provide care such as serving meals, diapering and potty training, and teaching skills such as hand washing and getting dressed. In addition, the Assistant will conduct work such as cooking, dish washing, and cleaning. We are seeking individuals with child-care experience, particularly with young children, and an interest and appreciation for Waldorf education.
Our Sprouts program is a year-round program for children ages 1 to 4. This is a temporary position, running from April 2021 through January 2022. We are certified as a group home day care through the New York Office of Children and Family Services.
The Assistants’ Duties are:
Make snacks and lunch for Sprouts
Keep kitchen clean
Diaper as needed
Clean as needed
Care for children
Work w/lead teacher and assistant
Acquire understanding of Waldorf Early Childhood pedagogy
Work w/administrator and other Lakeside faculty/staff
Assist w/potty training and toileting
Assist with animals (chickens)

Seeking Development and Logistics Coordinator
starting in March, 2021
Lakeside School at Black Kettle Farm is seeking a Development and Logistics Coordinator who is eager to join a dedicated and creatively inspired faculty.
Lakeside School is a farm- and forest-based Waldorf school in Essex County, New York that serves families with young children, from birth through third-grade. Situated amidst the Adirondack mountains and the fertile farmland of the Boquet River Valley, our school provides an enriching natural setting for our many programs, including year-round childcare, a farm- and forest-based Kindergarten, and mixed-grade Early Elementary instruction.
Lakeside is entering an exciting growth phase and we are looking for an individual who can grow with the school as they help make programs as vibrant and efficient as possible. Guided by the School Administrator, this position will support big picture initiatives, including grant writing, fundraising, and facilities oversight. They will also collaborate with the Lakeside Faculty, staff and families to identify and solve problems as they arise. We are looking for an individual with exceptional organizational skills and follow-through.
This is a part-time (20 hrs per week), year-round position with potential for extended hours subbing in our programs. The Development and Logistics Coordinator will work closely with and assist the School Administrator.
Write grants and search for new grant opportunities
Write thank you letters for grants and donations
Work with the Fundraising Committee to coordinate spring fundraiser and other fundraising activities.
Organize “Big Asks” through the Committee and Board
Create Social Media/Marketing Campaigns to develop a broader audience, generate leads, and increase awareness of school’s mission in our community.
Coordinate annual facilities maintenance and upkeep
Coordinate water system upkeep and communicate with Water Control Officer.
Coordinate facilities projects (window renovation, building painting, Parent Work Days, solar panel maintenance and upgrading potential, etc)
Communicate project and maintenance needs with Maintenance staff
Coordinate cleaning needs with Cleaning staff

Lakeside School is always seeking individuals who love children to sub when our faculty is sick or away. No teaching credentials necessary but experience with children is a plus. Applicants must pass a fingerprinting background check.
