Lakeside School is Seeking the Following Positions for the 2019-20 School Year:

Sprouts Assistant Teachers

We are currently seeking Teaching Assistants to work alongside our Lead Sprouts Teacher, caring for a multi-age nursery group. We have a year-round position available now, and a temporary position starting June 22 and ending August 21, covering our 9-week summer program. The positions will work between 22 and 30 hours a week and are paid an hourly wage based on experience. The Assistant Teachers provide loving care while encouraging creative play, age appropriate movement, language development, and cooperative skills with other children in both indoor and outdoor settings. The Assistants also provide care such as serving meals, diapering and potty training, and teaching skills such as hand washing and getting dressed. In addition, the Assistants will conduct work such as cooking, dish washing, and cleaning. We are seeking individuals with child-care experience, particularly with young children, and an interest and appreciation for Waldorf education. The chosen candidates will need to complete a full background check through NY State Office of Child and Family Services, submit a physical and tb test, and take a free 5 hour on-line safety training.

 

The Assistants’ Duties are:

Make snacks and lunch for sprouts

Keep kitchen clean

Wash Sprouts dishes

Diaper as needed

Clean as needed

Care for children

Work w/lead teacher and assistant

Acquire understanding of Waldorf Early Childhood pedagogy

Work w/administrator and other Lakeside faculty/staff

Assist w/potty training and toileting

Assist with animals (chickens)

Substitute Teachers
Lakeside School is always seeking individuals who love children to sub when our faculty is sick or away. No teaching credentials necessary but experience with children is a plus. Applicants must pass a fingerprinting background check.
