An Aftercare Teacher for Farm and Forest Summer Camp

Starting June 28, 2021

Lakeside School is seeking an energetic individual who enjoys playing with young children outdoors. Our summer Aftercare program provides free play, storytime, and a relaxing end to an adventurous day in our shady natural play yard. The ideal candidate has experience with children ages 4 to 7, loves the outdoors, and is looking to become involved with our unique farm and forest school. The Aftercare Teacher will work Monday through Friday, 2 to 5pm each day – providing care for a small group of Kindergarten aged Camp students. The position will start June 28 and will end August 20 and is paid $12.50 to $14 an hour, based on experience.

A Waldorf Elementary Class Teacher Assistant

Starting late August, 2021

Lakeside School at Black Kettle Farm, is seeking an engaged and energetic Grade School Assistant Teacher to support classes in Grades one through three for the 2021-22 school year. The position runs from late August through the middle of June of each academic year. This is a part-time, hourly position for 3 hours per day, Monday through Friday. The position is focused on providing academic support, supervision and training towards becoming a class teacher.  There are also opportunities for further subbing in all programs as well as specialty class teaching.

 

We value excellent skills in teaching, classroom management, communication, and collegial and parent relationships, as well as depth in spiritual work and understanding of students and their development. Our programming includes parent-child classes, pre-school, kindergarten, as well as Grades 1 through 3, Foreign Language, Handwork, Movement, Woodworking, Farming and Music.

 

This position offers support within the classroom for our class teacher. General assistance may include assisting with classroom tasks as agreed upon with the class teacher, substituting for the class teacher as needed, supervising and monitoring our playground during recess, working with individual students, contributing to artistic work and small group work. The Assistant also helps with set up, clean up and organization of materials. Ideally the Assistant would take small groups of children and design and teach blocks based on the class teacher’s goals.  This position includes weekly meetings with the class teacher for collaboration, guidance and planning.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a B.A. degree; demonstrated interest in the philosophy and methods of Waldorf education; elementary teaching experience; energy, commitment, and vitality for working with elementary aged children; and the ability to take direction from, and work closely with the Class Teacher. Waldorf training and/or teaching experience is preferred. Student teachers in training are encouraged to apply as well.

A Farm and Forest Kindergarten Assistant

Starting early September, 2021

Lakeside School at Black Kettle Farm is seeking an Assistant for our mixed-age Kindergarten, Mondays through Fridays, 8am to 2:30pm. The Assistant will work with our Lead Teacher and another Assistant to provide a program using Waldorf early childhood methods in a forest kindergarten style. The Assistant will support the Lead teacher in implementing curriculum, preparation of snacks, care and safety of the children in both indoor and outdoor environments, clean up, and other organizational tasks. This position will transition to the afternoon program from 12:15 - 2:30 to help the afternoon lead teacher with the transitions during that time and the 2:15 program dismissal. The employee will be paid $14 an hour, is eligible for 50 percent faculty remission, and will work approximately 32.5 hours a week, beginning in early September and ending in mid June. We are looking for an individual who is experienced in caring for young children, who is comfortable with leading children in outdoor adventures, and who is a responsible and caring individual. This position is for the 2021-22 school year and has the possibility of growing into a long-term position. Substitute Teachers
Lakeside School is always seeking individuals who love children to sub when our faculty is sick or away. No teaching credentials necessary but experience with children is a plus. Applicants must pass a fingerprinting background check.
